Asist Analiz’s Trabzonspor journalist Haluk Ayyildiz claims the club have informed Liverpool they want €30m for their goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

The Turkish international has been impressing for his local side since the start of last season, and there’s now been repeat links with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

There’s been reports the Premier League side have been sending scouts to Turkey to get a lowdown on the youngster. Yesterday Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu revealed they’ve rejected a €20m offer from an unnamed club for the player.

Ayyildiz now reports Trabzonspor are looking to get at least €30m from the sale of their goalkeeper, but give no information on whether Liverpool are willing to meet the Super Lig club’s demands.

Despite the repeated claims, it simply doesn’t make sense. Liverpool have Alisson and there’s no point spending big on a back-up option, and it also wouldn’t help Cakir’s development to sit on the bench.

All of this just tends to be ignored in the reports.

The 23 year old has made 25 appearances for Trabzonspor in all competitions and kept three clean sheets. His contract with his boyhood club will expire at the end of June 2024.
