The rumours linking Kieran Gibbs to Torino have just got a lot more interesting now that another player could be going the other way.
As reported by newspaper Tuttosport today, as the Italian side struggle to match West Brom’s demands for the left-back, they could include Afriyie Acquah in the deal.
The outlet says that Torino went to England to know the conditions of a deal for Gibbs, and the Baggies asked for something between €7m and €8m.
The Turin side can’t even think of affording that, as their idea would be to get him on a loan deal and have a buying option of €3m. They don’t want this clause to be obligatory.
So it’s Acquah who can save the deal. The player is close to joining Empoli, but is taking too long to respond to their offer. He’s said to be demanding €600k per season, a little more than the €500k he makes at Torino.
But even in the Championship, West Brom can pay up to €1m. That’s what makes it all look more likely now, even though there’s a short time until the English transfer window is closed.
