Club in final stages to sign Southampton player – Should have positive response from Saints this week

There’s a claim in the Turkish press that Trabzonspor are closing in on Southampton forward Paul Onuachu.

The Nigeria international has been linked with a return to the Super Lig side throughout this transfer window and they people is reportedly keen to re-sign for them.

Karadenizde Sonnokta have reported on the latest developments regarding Onuachu’s future at Southampton and they say Trabzonspor are in the final stages to sign the 30-year-old.

In recent weeks Southampton have reportedly been holding out for €10m, but with the player looking surplus to requirements at St Mary’s they may now accept Trabzonspor’s offer of €7m, plus add-ons.

According to the Turkish media outlet, Trabzonspor are confident they can get a deal over the line for Onuachu and that they are expecting a positive response from the Saints in the coming days.

Trabzonspor still have the advantage that the Super Lig transfer window only closes in just over two weeks and subsequently aren’t under pressure to get a deal done before Friday.

He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
