Liverpool star Fabinho has emerged as a target for Real Madrid.
That’s what Fichajes.net are reporting and they add the 27-year-old can be the ‘solution’ to the problems created by Raphaël Varane’s renewal.
The centre-back’s contract with Los Blancos expires in 2022 and if he decides to leave the club, they will look to replace him with the Brazil international.
Fabinho’s been an important figure for the Reds, but the Merseyside club’s sporting and economic ‘problems’ can help his departure in the summer. The player’s intention to leave also increases due to the way things have gone for Jürgen Klopp’s side this season.
The former AS Monaco man first arrived in Europe when the La Liga side took him on a loan deal in 2012.
Real Madrid are aware Fabinho, who can operate as a defensive midfielder or as a defender, loves the club.
This was visible when the South American spoke to Florentino Pérez after the Champions League quarter-final clash between the two clubs at Valdebebas.
Zinedine Zidane likes Fabinho very much, mainly because of his versatility, height and his overall game. The French coach believes the Liverpool man’s addition will further bolster his side’s squad.
Any approach from Real Madrid will depend on Varane and the World Cup winner’s departure could convince the Spanish club to make a formal offer for Fabinho.
It’s worth noting Real Madrid are also chasing Bayern Munich’s David Alaba, who, like Fabinho, can operate in the back four or as a defensive midfielder. The Austrian will be available on a free transfer in the next market and he seems like a better option, at least on transfer fee, than the Brazilian.
