On Sunday, there was a flurry of activity surrounding two Lorient players, with it claimed that Southampton had made a first attempt to sign Terem Moffi.
The Nigeria international has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 side, and it appears Nathan Jones has highlighted him as the right man to improve his attack.
That being said, the first bid from Southampton of €10m, as reported by various outlets, including Ouest-France on Monday, simply wasn’t enough.
He has become an important part of Lorient’s team and the newspaper state the offer was ‘far from the expectations’ put in place by the Brittany based side.
In fact, it’s said Lorient are ‘hoping for at least double’ what Southampton put forward, meaning €20m minimum in their eyes.
Whether this is something the Saints are willing to go up to remains to be seen, but the Premier League side has been warned.
The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals in 16 games for Lorient this season, helping them climb to a very respectable sixth place in Ligue 1 to date after 17 games.
