Manchester City are yet to contact HSV Hamburg regarding Tommy Doyle’s loan spell or whether they want to terminate it early in January.
That’s according to MOPO, who say the German side are ‘hoping for clarity’ on the situation sooner rather than later.
Doyle has been on loan with the 2.Bundesliga side since the summer but has barely featured for them this season, managing just 71 minutes in the league this season.
That has led to numerous reports that his loan deal could be ended early come January, with several sides in England thought to be keen to take the 20-year-old for the remainder of the season if that were the case.
Last week it was reported in Germany that such an eventuality was almost inevitable after Doyle elected to travel back to England for the Christmas period.
That decision means that should he return to Germany; he will have to isolate, thus missing HSV’s return to training and their upcoming training camp in Spain.
That’s less than ideal, and the obvious solution was for Manchester City to end the deal, which has not worked out well for any party, early and send him elsewhere.
It seems that decision has not been made as yet, though, with MOPO reporting that nobody from Etihad has contacted HSV regarding the matter.
They are not ‘pushing for an early termination’ at this point, but if Manchester City were to find a different club, it would be ‘annoying’ if he were in isolation in Hamburg. That suggests they are likely to end it at some point.
As yet, it has not been decided when he will return to his loan club if he will at all, but the German side do not want to wait until ‘well into January’ for that decision to be made.
They are instead ‘hoping for clarity‘ on the situation before then and are seemingly waiting for City to provide it.
