As the Portuguese media continues to cover the battle for Viktor Gyökeres, they make us wonder what West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are waiting for before bidding for the Coventry City striker.
Newspaper Record today shares a new story saying the player is keen on the move to Sporting, as he’d even cut his holiday short to complete the transfer to the Lisbon side.
The problem is that Coventry City have reportedly put the Lions’ bid ‘on hold’, and that’s why West Ham and Wolves would stand a chance.
It’s claimed that the Lions put €16m plus €3m in bonuses on the table, but the owner of the Championship side wants to listen to the other interested clubs before making a deal.
West Ham and Wolves are said to be ‘at the head’ of those who could keep the player in England, although it’s not yet clear if they’d outbid Sporting.
The Portuguese media remains very confident that Gyokeres wants the move to Lisbon, but while Coventry City don’t accept the Lions’ offer, that can’t be completed.
