Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri were attracting interest from other clubs in the summer and one of them was expected to leave Chelsea following the arrival of Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge.
However, neither the Spaniard nor the 26-year-old were able to get a move away from the west London club.
Napoli were one of the clubs reportedly interested in the Brazil-born Italy international.
Journalist Ciro Venerato now claims the Serie A side have held talks with the Blues defender’s camp and also provides an update Chelsea’s demands to let the player leave.
“To date, Napoli have had two talks with the entourage of Emerson Palmieri, who are waiting for other important clubs,” Venerato told Radio Kiss Kiss, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24.
“Chelsea are asking for an obligatory loan of 25m, but it would be much more convenient to go to Greece and give PAOK 10 million and ask for [Dimitris] Giannoulis.”
Last week, reports from Italy suggested Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan could make an attempt to sign Emerson in January.
Venerato’s claims suggest Emerson is waiting for other clubs to make an approach for him, while Napoli would prefer to invest on a cheaper alternative to strengthen their left-back position. The journalist also discussed about Emerson while speaking to Piuenne.
“As for the incoming market, I can name some. Giannoulis is a concrete goal for the left back position. Napoli intends to take a left back. Gattuso’s dream is Emerson Palmieri of Chelsea,” Area Napoli quoted Venerato as saying.
Emerson has three appearances in all competitions this season under Frank Lampard.
