Benfica have started talks with Manchester City to end Issa Kaboré’s loan deal at the Portuguese side early.
That’s according to Record, who say Benfica want rid of the full-back after something of a soap opera around him since his arrival in the summer.
The newspaper report that Benfica’s directors intend to bring forward the end of Kaboré’s loan, which was set to run until next summer.
The 23-year-old joined from Manchester City in this summer transfer window but has only made six appearances this season totalling 192 minutes.
Benfica are not happy with him and want him to leave in January and now at the end of the season as had been planned.
President Rui Costa has already moved to make that happen and talk are underway with Manchester City over an agreement to end the loan deal. The feeling is that Kaboré simply didn’t live up to expectations despite a successful loan spell with Luton Town last season in the Premier League.
He was supposed to be a competitor to Alexander Bah but hasn’t impressed, with Bruno Lage even turning Tomás Araújo into a makeshift right-back instead of using him.
