RB Leipzig have already spoken to Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s management ahead of a possible move in the summer.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who adds his information to the growing reports around Glasner and Leipzig.
Reports over the last week have insisting that the Crystal Palace manager is on Leipzig’s list of candidates as they seek a replacement for Marco Rose, who was sacked on Sunday. The German side are eyeing a new appointment in the summer.
The Austrian coach has continued to impress at Selhurst Park this season and that has put him on Leipzig’s list as they eye several candidates.
Plettenberg reports that the Crystal Palace manager ‘remains a candidate’ and more so after Sebastian Hoeneß extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart.
According to him there has already been contract with Glasner’s management but any move will require a transfer fee as his current contract runs until 2026. There is believed to be an exit option in that, but Plettenberg doesn’t state what that is valued at.
It is worth remembering that Bayern Munich offered €18m last year but were quoted €100m by Crystal Palace at the time.
Plettenberg adds that Leipzig boss Marcel Schäfer knows Glasner well from their time together at Wolfsburg. The suggestion is that connection may be driving the new interest.
Whether it becomes anything concrete or is all just speculation remains to be seen but the insistence in Germany is that the Crystal Palace manager is firmly on Leipzig’s list of targets.
Fellow journalist Phillip Hinze adds a little more detail, reporting that Glasner is on the shortlist and contact has now been ‘established’ with the Crystal Palace boss. An ‘exchange has also taken place.
According to his information there has also been a meeting but Leipzig declined to comment on the name or the meeting when asked about it. He also insists that there is a release clause in Glasner’s deal.
