Two days ago, journalist Gerard Romero explained Manchester City star İlkay Gündoğan’s agent has had a meeting with Barcelona.
The Germany international has a contract expiring at the end of this season and is a target for the La Liga side in the summer.
Mundo Deportivo state the midfielder is represented by his uncle, who also manages Barca defender Andreas Christensen. The Blaugrana’s meeting with the agent was not in relation to the Manchester City player.
Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany has responded to the meeting with the 32-year-old’s agent.
“My obligation is to know that Gündoğan is free,” Alemany told Movistar+, relayed by Mundo.
Despite the Manchester City captain’s age, he is still ‘fundamental’ for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
The La Liga side believe the ex-Borussia Dortmund star’s experience can be very useful to the growth of young midfielders like Pedri, Gavi, Nico González and Pablo Torre.
It’s claimed there’s frequent contact between Gündoğan’s agent and Barca.
Although the Spanish giants have denied having a pre-agreement with the German, Camp Nou sources privately admit he is a ‘very likely option’ next season.
