Olivier Giroud has six games to his name in all competitions for Chelsea this season and that includes only two starts.
The striker is aware his limited playing time with the Blues could hamper his chances of going to next summer’s Euros with France.
Giroud has publicly admitted he is unhappy with his situation at Stamford Bridge and Soccer Link in France claim Lyon could be open to the idea of signing him if they allow Moussa Dembélé to leave the club in January, if they receive a club-record offer for his sale.
The former Celtic man has impressed for the Ligue 1 side since joining them in 2018, thus replacing him will not be an easy task.
It’s claimed Lyon have done some groundwork and have identified the 33-year-old as a potential target.
The French club have ‘already made first contact’ with the Chelsea player’s agent earlier in the season.
Giroud’s Chelsea contract expires in 2020. His situation with regards to contract and playing time at the club, coupled with his desire to remain competitive means a move away from the Premier League side must not be ruled out in January.
