French side Brest are close to agreeing a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion for winger Abdallah Sima.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the French club have accelerated their efforts for the transfer and a deal may be close.
They report that after a 5-1 loss to Marseille on the opening weekend of Ligue 1, the Breton management are working to improve the squad in whatever way they can.
They’re already working on loan deals and Sima would be one of them. He’s returned to Brighton this year after a loan with Rangers but is not a part of their plans for now.
Thus, negotiations with Brest have ‘accelerated’ and a loan deal may now be closed to being agreed. That would be a loan deal without a purchase option included.
His arrival in France would help to solve a major problem for Brest, whose offence has been left short after the departures of Martín Satriano, Steve Mounié, Adrien Lebeau and Taïryk Arconte,
The move will be the latest in a growing list of loans for Sima. He joined Brighton in August 2021 and has since been with Stoke, Angers SCO and Rangers.
He managed 16 goals in 39 games at Ibrox and that has presumably convinced Brest he’d be an ideal addition.
