Unable to find game time under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal during the first half of the season, Pablo Marí decided to give Italy a go.
Udinese welcomed him for the second part of the campaign, where he impressed and helped them in their endeavour to secure more Serie A football next season.
The club finished 12th, and want to keep the Arsenal loanee around, according to Il Gazzettino, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb.
It’s explained that Udinese are ‘hard at work trying to confirm Pablo Marí’, but because the Gunners paid a lot for him initially (over £12m), Udinese can’t afford to give them that.
That’s why they ‘would not want to buy him but ask for a loan again’.
As things stand, ‘the clubs are talking to each other to try and find an agreement’, which could suit Arsenal, as another good season in Serie A would go a long way in increasing his stock for any future sale.
They have room to do so, as well, as Marí’s contract with the Gunners expires in 2024.
