AS Roma are keen on signing Manchester United’s Memphis Depay, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian club have recently been linked with a move for the Dutchman, who has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford, and Gazzetta confirm those rumours.
It’s been reported AS Roma would like to sign him on loan in January, with the option to make it permanent for €25m. However, Depay is earning €4m per season at Manchester United, and AS Roma are likely to want to pay less.
The Dutchman doesn’t seem to be a part of Jose Mourinho’s future plans at Manchester United, with just 20 minutes of league football to his name this season. At 22 years of age, the young footballer certainly needs to play more regularly, and therefore will surely consider leaving Old Trafford in January.
Depay arrived at Manchester United in the summer 2015 transfer window after an excellent season with PSV. Failing to live up to expectations, things have got worse for the player under Mourinho and unless there’s a dramatic change in fortunes an exit looks plausible.
Roma would be a good bet for all involved. Depay would still have a big stage and the €25m carrot looks like a fee which would please Manchester United.
