We’ve yet to cover Watford’s interest in Mauro Karate this January, mostly due to the fact it all started in England, but that’s about to change.
On Thursday, Corriere dello Sport have a bit on the situation, and it appears Fiorentina aren’t against seeing the Argentinean forward leave this January if the right offer comes along.
Having paid around €2.5m to West Ham last season, La Viola would expect a similar amount to appear on their desk this month from Watford if they are to let the 29-year-old go.
A move to Walter Mazzarri’s side would also see them save on the €2m they still owe the player in wages this season, which is a far more enticing prospect than recouping the money from the transfer.
Corriere report that despite talk of it happening, Watford are yet to make an official offer for the former Argentina U20 international, and there is no indication as to what kind of transfer it will be.
It seems that as long as Fiorentina recoup most of the €2.5m and get Watford to pay the player’s wages for the remainder of the campaign, a loan with a view to buy should be acceptable.
It’s all about the money, this one.
