Newcastle United completed the signing of Chris Wood earlier this month and he’s made two appearances since swapping Burnley for the Tyneside club.
The Magpies are still in the market for a new striker and have reportedly set their sights on Atlético Madrid’s Álvaro Morata, who is currently on loan at Juventus.
Fiorentina’s Dušan Vlahović is close to sealing a move to the Turin club and the Serbian’s arrival is likely to push the former Chelsea striker out of Juve in the winter market.
Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the Spain international and journalist Juanma Castaño told El Partidazo de COPE that the two clubs are in negotiations for the 29-year-old’s transfer.
Xavi Hernández’s side continue to request the striker on loan, but the La Liga winners will only let him join them through a permanent sale. According to the journalist, Atlético will only let Morata go out on a temporary deal, if he were to join an English club.
A move to the Premier League seems possible as Los Rojiblancos have an offer from Eddie Howe’s side, who are ‘interested’ to sign the player.
Castaño doesn’t provide details of the proposal made by Newcastle, but explains ‘Friday will be the key day to find out the future’ of Morata.
