According to a claim in the Greek media, Olympiacos have switched their attention to Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic after becoming frustrated in their efforts to sign Barrie McKay from Nottingham Forest.
The Greek giants have been linked with the Nottingham Forest attacker in recent weeks, but yesterday there was a claim they are interested in Liverpool’s Markovic.
Sdna.Gr report Olympiacos could now look to sign Markovic instead of McKay.
The Serbian still has a year left on his current Liverpool contract and the player is likely to leave the club on a permanent move this summer.
Sdna say Anderlecht are also interested in signing the Liverpool outcast as reported in the Dutch media and the player’s future will be decided in the coming weeks. During the second half of last season Markovic was sent out on loan to the Belgian side, but it’s unlikely they’d be able to come up with a reasonable fee.
These latest developments put questions marks over Olympiacos pursuit of McKay.
Earlier this month it was claimed the Greek side had an agreement in place to sign the Nottingham Forest player and that only a few minor details had to be discussed.
