While it seemed that Francesco Acerbi was the favourite to bolster the Inter defence on Monday, everything has changed over the past couple of days.
That man is now Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, who, thanks to some good words from Romelu Lukaku, has jumped above everyone on the list and is now the ‘priority’ of the San Siro club, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, ‘if an opening doesn’t materialise within five days from London’, meaning ‘until Monday’, the plan B will be activated, which is Acerbi.
Those in charge at Inter ‘addressed the issue with the English club’ on Tuesday, but ‘there are two kinds of problems to solve’, with the first being the formula of the deal.
It’s said the Serie A side see Chalobah as a present and future player for their club, which is why they are trying to obtain an ‘option to buy’ in the deal.
The second is that Chelsea ‘are asking for money for the loan, around €3m’, which is a problem as those in charge of Inter haven’t given the OK for money to be spent on temporary deals.
This is why they are giving themselves time, as ‘the idea is that the Blues will soften as the days go by’.
The relationship between the two clubs is well known, and the fact Chelsea are trying to sign Wesley Fofana plays in Inter’s favour, because once a new centre-back arrives at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah will be free to go.
Over at FC Inter News, the belief is that, in an article published late on Tuesday night, a new meeting is expected to take place between the intermediary in charge of a potential deal for the 23-year-old, Paolo Busardò, on Wednesday.
