The case of Charly Musonda and his Chelsea return rumbles on. After a great first period with Real Betis, it made sense for the Chelsea youngster to return to Betis this season, given he wasn’t part of Antonio Conte’s first team plans.
There was much competition for the 20 year old, but Musonda was keen on Chelsea choosing Betis, because he’d felt so good there at the end of last season, and it appeared a less risky idea than a loan elsewhere.
Things didn’t work out the way Musonda and Chelsea hoped, and the youngster has repeatedly returned to the Premier League club for treatment on a knee injury.
It wasn’t serious and as the trip got longer, and longer, it became apparent something else was happening… Musonda was set to switch back to Chelsea.
Spanish newspaper Marca explain that Betis have let it slip on their website.
Every day the club publish a list of injured players, but Musonda isn’t on it any longer. Given he’s not training, and considered injured, that he’s not on the Betis list suggests he’s no longer their player.
Marca say it’s awaiting official confirmation.
