According to a claim in the Turkish media, Burnley forward Wout Weghorst is edging closer to signing for Trabzonspor.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move to the Super Lig side in recent weeks, along with Ajax and Rangers.
Sabah today report Trabzonspor have finally reached an agreement with Weghorst over personal terms. It’s also claimed the 31-year-old has already been shown the house that he could possibly be living in if he moves to Trabzon.
There were reports this week his partner wasn’t keen moving to Turkey, and we still doubt the optimism from the Turkish media.
The player himself hinted yesterday that he fancies a return ham, too the Netherlands, and flirted with Ajax.
Trabzonspor still need to reach an agreement with Burnley over the transfer fee and subsequently negotiations will continue. Initially Burnley were asking for a significant fee for the Netherlands international, but with the player showing a desire to leave this has reportedly been reduced.
Also, with just 12 months left on his contract the Championship side will be under pressure to offload him this summer or risk losing him on a free next summer.
Weghorst previously had a brief loan spell in Turkey with Besiktas during the 2022/23 season.
