Over the past few weeks, especially with talk of Achraf Hakimi potentially being sold, Emerson Palmieri has been linked with Inter.
The Italy international has long been touted with a return to Serie A, but nothing has ever come of it.
This summer, however, has always felt a bit different, since the defender’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in 2022, and yet, Inter are after one of his teammates.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who report that Inter are ‘focusing their attention on Marcos Alonso’, who played ever so slightly more than Palmieri last year as Thomas Tuchel gave the starting role to Ben Chilwell.
So, if Hakimi heads to Stamford Bridge, Alonso ‘will be the player required as a technical counterpart because he is considered more decisive for the project’ than the likes of Davide Zappacosta, Mateo Kovacic or Tammy Abraham.
But if the Morocco international heads to Paris Saint-Germain instead of Chelsea, the Spaniard ‘will remain a priority and the executives will try to buy him’, perhaps getting him on a ‘different formula’ than if he had been included in the deal for the aforementioned right-back.
Either way, Inter are keen regardless of the Hakimi transfer.
