Pep Guardiola and Ronald Koeman have both gone public over Barcelona’s interest in Manchester City’s Eric García, who is in his final year of contract at the Etihad.

The Citizens manager confirmed the 19-year-old was struggling with an injury which is why he was left out of the squad to face Leeds United on Saturday.

On October 3rd, Mundo Deportivo reported the Blaugrana will raise their offer and ‘fight until the end’ to take the centre-back to the Camp Nou.

Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo explains the Spain international’s arrival in this window ‘seems complicated’.

That’s because the English club ‘doesn’t give in’ and are asking for a similar fee (€25m plus variables) to what they paid for Ferran Torres.

Barca were hoping the Etihad club would lower their demands because of the duration left on García’s contract.

However, at the moment, City are open to the idea of retaining the defender, despite knowing that he could leave them as a free agent next summer.

Mundo states the Premier League side ‘remain inflexible’ and therefore, it’s unlikely the two clubs can find an agreement.

This also makes it difficult for Barcelona to look for a ‘low cost’ alternative to García in the final 48 hours of the window.
