Portuguese side Sporting released this week their financial report for the third trimester of the 2019/20 season.
Bruno Fernandes is the big saviour for their accounts this year. The fee paid by Manchester United had a big impact for the Lions, letting them close their maths with positive numbers.
But newspaper Record has gone through all details in Sporting’s report, and they point out that the Red Devils have only paid for half of the fee so far.
They show that the Lisbon side include Manchester United in two extra topics, ‘flowing clients’ and ‘not flowing clients’. That means one payment for the next 12 months and another to be made after the 1st of April 2021.
These two instalments to be paid are of €13.47m each, meaning the Red Devils still owe Sporting a fee of €26.94m.
That means that from the total €55m announced by the Portuguese side, only €28.06m has been paid so far.
Besides the initial fee, Record points out that the agreement also includes a bonus of €25m depending on performance bonuses.
They consider €10m of them to be ‘easy to achieve’.
So even though Bruno Fernandes has been doing great and has shown he’s been a pretty good investment for Manchester United, it looks like the club must still pay for most of the transfer.
With the Coronavirus crisis, perhaps that will have an impact on how much they’ll spend in the next couple of transfer windows.
