The Brazilian press continues to follow Manchester City’s attempt to sign Grêmio youngster Diego Rosa.

Following reports about the ‘verbal agreement’ last week, the stories from the weekend claim that things are advancing for the midfielder to join the Premier League side.

Outlet Globo Esporte explain that his departure isn’t something planned by Grêmio. They say that the player has been making his renewal very difficult in recent times.

Since Diego Rosa’s contract expires next year, the Brazilian side are feeling forced to sell him to Manchester City now. There’s also the fact that they’re in need of money due to the Covid-19 crisis.

When signing the player, Grêmio only got 50% of his rights, but the agreement with his former club Vitória said they could get 20% more for a specific amount.

Zero Hora claim the clubs are now talking for this clause to be triggered. That’s another sign that Grêmio are sorting things out before they close the deal with Manchester City.

The Premier League side are expected to pay around €10m for the 17-year-old.
