At the rate things are going with Luke Shaw, Manchester United are going to need a new left-back in the summer to help Ashley “Forever” Young, and the favourite on the list appears to be Faouzi Ghoulam.

Rupturing his knee ligament against Manchester City in the Champions League, the Algeria international was on the verge of coming back a month or so ago, but then ended up fracturing his knee cap.

Now expected to miss the rest of the season, there are, understandably, a few question marks about his future, yet that doesn’t allay Napoli’s fears he could leave.

With a release clause in his contract standing at around £44m, Corriere dello Sport explain the Serie A side are worried Ghoulam could give in to the temptation of signing for Manchester United in the summer, teaming up with José Mourinho in the process in a move probably orchestrated by Jorge Mendes.

The super agent isn’t mentioned by Corriere, but it’s no secret he is the man looking after the careers of both the Red Devils manager and the Napoli left-back.

This one won’t go away anytime soon.
