Today appears to be Ayoze Perez day in the Italian media, as a number of outlets have popped up with various claims surrounding the Newcastle forward’s future.
Expected to leave St James’ Park in the summer, the 25-year-old is likely to have a number of options at his disposal come the summer, including moving to Italy.
Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday suggested the Spaniard was a ‘new idea’ for Inter, while Il Mattino, which was then backed up by CalcioNapoli24, reported Perez was an option for Carlo Ancelotti in the south of Italy.
A few hours later, it’s Radio Marte’s turn to provide an update, claiming that, should the former Spain U21 international decide to move to the Serie A, he would favour Naples.
Relayed by CalcioNapoli24, the radio station explain they contacted Perez’s entourage, who told them they hadn’t received any news from Napoli, with the link coming from an ‘intermediary’ offering the Newcastle goalscorer to Napoli as well as other clubs in Italy and in the Premier League.
However, Aurelio de Laurentiis’ club would be his ‘preferred option’ in Serie A.
Calciomercato.it also add their bit to the story, explaining that both Inter and Napoli have been following Perez at Newcastle, but no ‘concrete move’ has been made by either club for the Spaniard yet.
They also share a tidbit of information suggesting Tottenham tried to sign him last season, to no avail.
It seems this story might be getting ahead of itself a little bit, as tends to be the case in the transfer rumour mill, and it’s rather indicative certain members of the Italian media are starting to try and slow things down.
