Chelsea striker Diego Costa has recently admitted he should be leaving the club, and when speaking of the options he has, he mentioned Brazil as a possibility.

It didn’t take long until Brazilian fans started hoping their club would land him. Palmeiras, who are currently backed up by a huge sponsor, would obviously be one of the favourites. You just need to search for ‘Costa Palmeiras’ on Twitter and you’ll have an idea the expectations.

That’s was the cue for Elia Junior to claim it’s very likely the striker will indeed sign for the club. The journalist, who doesn’t have a very good reputation for transfer stories, said the Chelsea player would sign for Atlético Madrid and then move to Palmeiras on loan.

That’s when Palmeiras fans lost all hope. Most of the replies to that tweet are saying that the transfer is “definitely not happening” now, including some rather strong words we won’t translate.

It’s impossible for a Brazilian club to afford Costa’s full salary, so unless there’s a European club making it happen, there’s no way the Chelsea striker is returning.

However, it would even be a good idea for any Brazilian side to explored this partnership with Atletico. The player would be kept in form, competing until the end of the season, as the important tournaments in South America only end in December.
