West Ham United’s decision not to include a purchase clause in Nayef Aguerd’s loan to Real Sociedad may have proven to be inspired.
That’s at least if the latest from VIP Deportivo is anything to go by, as they say Real Sociedad have fallen in love with the Moroccan so far.
They state that Aguerd has been the ‘surprise of the team’ since arriving on loan from West Ham in the summer and impressed everyone with his excellent performances so far.
He’s a fixture in the starting 11 and has quickly filled the void left behind by Robin Le Normand after his move to Atletico Madrid.
He has quickly won over fans and is becoming of the team’s ‘most beloved players’. The growing love has been helped by the face Sociedad have only conceded four goals in the 561 minutes Aguerd has been on the pitch. Only one of those has come from open play.
That’s an ‘incredible fact’ for a defender and has already got people questioning how much he might cost to sign on a permanent basis.
They’re falling into the dangerous trap of falling in love with the West Ham loanee and that’s become abundantly clear. The problem is that West Ham loaned him without including a purchase option in the deal, which is what Real Sociedad wanted at the time because they have some promising youngsters coming through.
Thus, his future at Real Sociedad is up in the air. The club loves him, his teammates loves him, the fans love him. Now it’s a question of how much that love is valued at in the coming months.
