Manchester United wanted Amad Diallo to continue his development elsewhere and were willing to let him join Feyenoord on a loan deal last summer. However, the move collapsed after he suffered an injury in training last August.

Since regaining full fitness, the winger made only one appearance for the Red Devils, before sealing a loan move to Rangers in the winter market.

However, prior to joining Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, Sassuolo ‘tried’ signing the 19-year-old on a temporary deal.

According to Calciomercato, the Italian club made the ‘most concrete survey’ for the attacker. They even ‘made an attempt’ to take the United owned player on a loan transfer in January.

The Premier League side, on the other hand, chose to send the Ivory Coast international to Rangers.

It’s claimed Van Bronckhorst’s side are an ‘intermediate step’ for Diallo, before the ‘definitive return’ to Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick and others at Manchester United ‘still believe a lot’ in the player and his future is likely to be with the Red Devils.
