Everton have joined the race to sign Chelsea’s Malang Sarr, according to reports coming out of Italy.

The Blues signed the defender on a free transfer in August 2020 and more than a month later, loaned him out to FC Porto.

Having returned to Stamford Bridge from his temporary spell in Portugal, the 22-year-old could be on the move again this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio explain Bologna are keen to sign the centre-back and have a meeting scheduled with his representatives on Monday to find an agreement over salary.

It’s claimed the Chelsea owned player’s wages are ‘high’ for the Serie A side, which is why it’s necessary to find the right formula.

Bologna are pushing for the Frenchman’s signing, but the ‘competition is high’. There was interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and now the Toffees are chasing him. The Italian club will have to overcome Everton and other clubs, if they are to win the battle.

Although there’s no mention whether Everton and Bologna are looking at a temporary deal or permanent transfer, Gianluca Di Marzio does mention, on Twitter, talks are ongoing between Siniša Mihajlović’s side and Chelsea to sign Sarr on loan.
