Galatasaray are eyeing a move for West Ham United defender Fabian Balbuena when his contract expires in the summer.
That’s according to Yeni Asir, who say the Turkish side are doing a ‘cost research’ ahead of a potential move.
Balbuena is out of contract at West Ham in the summer and, despite featuring 14 times in the Premier League this season, it looks like he will be departing the club.
It is his availability on a free transfer that has alerted Galatasaray, who are set to be on the hunt for a new centre back this summer.
Their plan is to sell Christian Luyindama ‘for a good price’, and that means they will need to bring in a replacement at some point.
The man they are looking at is West Ham’s Balbuena, and talks have already been held with his agent about a move to Turkey.
The Super Lig side are ‘doing a cost research’ ahead of a move, but coach Fatih Terim has already approved the deal, and there is a feeling the transfer could happen before the end of the season.
The fact his contract at West Ham is expiring ‘strengthens the hand’ for Galatasaray’s management, who seem to be keen largely because he will be available on a free.
