Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa is the man Napoli are eyeing up as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if they can’t sign the Georgian to a new deal.

That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by Il Napolista, who report Napoli could make their move next summer if Kvaratskhelia ends up departing.

The newspaper explains that while Napoli are satisfied with the squad that they have, there may be one major change coming in future.

Kvaratskhelia’s current contract expires in 2027 but both parties want to renew it as he’s one of the lower earners in the squad despite being a star. Reports have indicated that Napoli have offered a €6m deal but that is their max and the 23-year-old wants more.

Indeed, those same reports have indicated that the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are offering at least €3m more than that.

The disaster with Victor Osimhen in the summer has ‘taught them something’ and if an agreement can’t be reached, they would look to sell Kvaratskhelia while he still has two years left on his deal.

If that happens, they would look to Chiesa to replace him as an exit from Liverpool looks increasingly likely.

He’s barely featured for Liverpool this season after joining in the summer and Arne Slot has been elusive when asked about when the Italian may become a permanent part of his team.

Several sides in Italy have been credited with an interest and potential moves for him in the coming months. Napoli can now be added to the list, with them seemingly concerned about Kvaratskhelia’s contract situation and the stalling negotiations so far.
