AC Milan are keeping an eye on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard as they look to a future beyond Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Mandzukic.
Ibrahimovic has made a sensational return to Milan over the last year, helping take them back towards the top of Italian football despite his advancing years.
He is a key player at the club once again, but they know that at some point, the striker, who is already 39-years-old, will need replacing.
The same can be said of Mandzukic, who joined Milan in the January transfer window but has struggled to make much of an impact due to several niggling injuries.
Thus, according to Tuttosport, it is clear to the club that they need to cast their eyes to the future in this summer market and ‘think well’ about ‘investing’ in a young forward who they can establish in the striker role moving forward.
One they are keen on is Edouard at Celtic, with it explained they are ‘observing’ his performances for the Scottish side this season.
The 23-year-old has 16 goals and four assists in the league this season and was ‘already monitored’ in the summer as a potential deputy for Ibrahimovic.
He remains on the list of potential targets they could move for, alongside Dusan Vlahovic and Andrea Belotti, the latter being the ‘Italian option’ for the club.
At the moment, there’s no mention of anything more significant than them watching his performances but, if Edouard continues to score goals between now and the end of the season, Celtic may be facing a serious fight to keep hold of him.
