Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi continues to be the subject of many stories in the Portuguese press, especially because his situation at the club is far from defined.
Correio da Manhã sum up the picture of Porto’s defence today. They make it clear that manager Sérgio Conceição wants Felipe and Marcano to be the starting duo, which leaves Martins Indi and Diego Reyes out of the team.
It’s claimed the boss will tell the reserves he still counts on them, but there are two things that make their situation unstable. Firstly, because both Reyes and Martins Indi are entering the last year of their contracts, and secondly, because the board would be happy to make a few million by selling them now.
Stoke City are still Porto’s biggest hope to transfer the Dutchman. Correio da Manhã mentions the fact that Marko Arnautović’s transfer to West Ham could lead to Stoke spending some of the profit on Martins Indi.
And despite reports from England saying Crystal Palace had agreed a fee for the player, the London side haven’t been mentioned in the last updates from Portugal.
A new attempt from Stoke is all they expect. The hope is perhaps misplace, with Mark Hughes securing a deal for Kurt Zouma, Martins Indi is no longer so important.
