With Spanish newspaper AS reporting this week that Real Madrid are interested in the signing of Braga defender David Carmo, many Portuguese outlets cover the claims today.
It’s Jornal de Notícias who brings the biggest piece, and they actually have something to add regarding the competition that the Galacticos may face for the 21-year-old.
It’s claimed that Liverpool are still interested in the signing, following the attempt they made to get him in the January transfer window.
Jornal de Notícias points out the Reds made a ‘concrete offer’ to sign Carmo on a loan deal for €4m plus an option to buy him for €20m.
The newspaper makes it sound like Braga won’t regret turning Liverpool’s bid down, because with so many big clubs going after the defender now, he may actually become the club’s biggest sale ever, as the current record belongs to Francisco Trincão, who left for Barcelona on a €31m deal last year.
Liverpool’s bid for the centre-back had been widely reported by the Portuguese media by the end of January, but this is probably the first time that local outlets say the Reds are still interested for the summer.
