It’s now been a week since the Brazilian media reported that Fluminense and the City Group are nearing an agreement for the transfers of Kayky and Metinho.
The negotiations are said to be in final stages, as the striker should head to Manchester City and the midfielder would be on his way to Troyes, both in 2022.
Now even though this story has gone quiet for a few days, we finally get something from Netflu which is a big sign that the deal is going forward.
The outlet brings a piece showing that Fluminense, like most Brazilian clubs, have big financial issues. And a debt they have with Peruvian side Sporting Crystal could turn into a legal case at Fifa.
However, according to Netflu’s information, the Rio de Janeiro side are already counting on the transfers of Kayky and Metinho, as they’ll use this money to settle the issue.
They point out that the negotiations haven’t been ‘consolidated’ yet, although Fluminense are already counting on the money.
Reports from Brazil say the City Group are paying €10m plus potential €16m in bonuses for Kayky, and €5m plus €8m in bonuses for Metinho. The Brazilian side are keeping 20% of each player’s future move.
Now even though only the striker is supposed to go straight to Manchester City, we can say that Metinho’s recent games for Fluminense’s youth ranks have been good enough for something to change before the time of the move in 2022.
The two 17-year-olds should be soon making their debuts for Fluminense’s first team.
