Any person who takes a look at the Portuguese media today will only need a few minutes to see how big the rumour linking Luis Diaz to Liverpool has turned out to be.
Several newspapers have stories about it, even though not all of them are bringing this as information of their own.
It was Spanish outlet AS who this week featured a story claiming that Diaz is Jurgen Klopp’s favourite option for the January market. The Reds’ boss is set to miss Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah during the Africa Cup of Nations and reportedly chose the Colombian as their replacement.
So what newspapers such as A Bola, Correio da Manhã, Jornal de Notícias and Record are doing is basically bringing Porto’s response, which is: Diaz is not for sale in January, and in case Liverpool go for him, the Dragons will demand €80m to let him go.
Record writes that the winger made a compromise to stay at the club at least until the end of the season.
Still, they don’t rule out the possibility of a deal made now for the transfer to happen only in the summer.
The newspaper says Diaz is expected to be Porto’s biggest sale ever, and he should soon have a chance to prove himself against Liverpool, as the Dragons will feature at Anfield in the Champions League next week.
