It seems Manchester City are close to watching a strange situation happening in the summer transfer window.

That has to do with Pedro Porro, a player they bought from Girona back in 2019 and never gave a chance to make his debut with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The fullback has been on loan at Sporting since 2020, and as widely reported by the Portuguese media, the Lions are set to trigger the buying option to sign him permanently for only €8.5m.

It’s no secret Porro has been doing well during this spell, and according to newspaper Correio da Manhã today, there’s a heavy auction waiting for him this summer.

The outlet writes that Real Madrid have now ‘re-entered’ the battle for him, and are set to compete for the signing against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Now what could really hurt Manchester City is that Sporting are willing to make ‘a minimum amount’ of €30m with Porro’s sale.

So even though the fullback seemed happy to stay in Lisbon, both he and the Lions will undoubtedly be even more satisfied to get this transfer done now.

Pedro Porro played the two legs of the Champions League’s round-of-16 against Manchester City this season.
