Today’s edition of The Daily Jerry Mbakogu goes along a similar theme: Whilst Carpi’s local media have seen reports from England that Leeds United have pulled out of the signing, the Serie B club are denying that’s the case.

TV Qui in Modena reports that from Carpi’s ‘Via Marx’ (the club’s headquarters), the message is very much that ‘all is not lost’.

The Italian club’s owner Stefano Bonacini is now in talks personally with Leeds United and ‘doing everything’ to get the Mbakogu signing over the line.

Carpi’s summer business largely depends on Mbakogu going first, and they’re increasingly worried over a deal for Federico Melchiorri.

The striker was on loan at Carpi last season and the deal was set to be made permanent this summer, but the preference option date has already passed and other clubs are interested.

It’s claimed Perugia, Crotone and Livorno ‘remain at the window’ for Melchiorri and could snatch him from Carpi’s clutches.

Maybe the club should just offer Mbakogu to their Melchiorri rivals.

Over at Gazzetta di Modena they say there’s still a wait going on to ‘unblock the deal with Leeds’.
