Palmeiras are continuing to monitor the situation around Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus and ‘evaluating the possibility’ of getting him in their squad next year.

That’s according to GOAL Brasil, who say the Verdão ‘dream of the possibility’ of getting their former star back.

The 27-year-old find himself on the fringes of the Arsenal squad and that has seen talk of a return to Palmeiras come back into the fore.

The matter has been bouncing backwards and forwards since the summer, with its first explained that Palmeiras wanted him as their star signing ahead of the Club World Cup next year.

That was then played down as it was explained Jesus has suitors in Europe and would prefer to remain there if he does end up leaving Arsenal.

Then came more positivity about the idea before recent reports stated that Palmeiras simply couldn’t afford the Arsenal striker, and they’d look at bringing him back at a later time in future. This was even despite him visiting the club in the summer.

Now GOAL want to swing the topic back in the other direction once more as they say Palmeiras are ‘once again monitoring’ his situation at Arsenal.

They say that even if the striker intends to remain in Europe, the Brazilian club believes that it is possible to get him in 2025. They’ve not yet opened conversations with his entourage, but they are ‘considering the possibility internally’.

His ‘reserve’ status at Arsenal is encouraging Palmeiras’ leadership to try and get him and spend their money. Jesus’ preference remains to stay in Europe, but GOAL are now back at the positive stage and insisting that doesn’t matter to Palmeiras.

We’d expect that to flip again in the coming days, but the story is one that refuses to go away, and it’ll likely keep flip flopping all the way through December and then the January transfer window too.
