For the past few weeks now, the Italian media have been fairly confident that Pedro, out of contract at Chelsea in the next couple of months, would be heading to Italy.
While the attraction of playing under Xavi in Qatar is there, the 32-year-old still seems to want to partake in more competitive football, with Serie A the perfect opportunity to continue doing so.
However, the big question, according to Il Tempo on Friday, is where will he do that?
AS Roma have been the main talking point of late, and there’s hope their three-year €3m/season contract offer would be enough to seduce him, but a new contender has arrived.
They go by the name of Juventus, and Il Tempo explain their interest comes straight from Maurizio Sarri, who ‘wants to manage him again’ after successfully using him at Stamford Bridge during his one year spell there.
Pedro played 52 games under the former Napoli manager, scoring 13 times and assisting another five, finding himself in the starting line up more often than not.
A lot could come down to who will offer him the most minutes, as the competition at Juventus is likely to be more important than in Rome.
We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s fair to say Pedro will not be short of offers when the 2019-20 campaign comes to a close.
