Having failed to sign Manchester United’s Éric Bailly in January, L’Equipe on Friday stated that Marseille hope to seduce the centre-back to join them this summer.
It was also said the Ligue 1 side are joined by Valencia, Celta Vigo, Fulham and AS Roma in the chase for Erik ten Hag’s man.
Marseille have taken the lead if a report from the newspaper local to the French club, La Provence, is to be believed.
Although the negotiations were long and at times, stagnated, Marseille president Pablo Longoria and their sporting director, Javier Ribalta, ‘ended up reaching an agreement’ with the Red Devils.
Marseille must agree a deal with the Ivory Coast international over personal terms. It’s said they are ‘still negotiating’ with the Manchester United player. Longaria and Ribalta hope to make significant progress over the weekend.
RMC Sport are also reporting Marseille have agreed a deal with Manchester United to take Bailly on loan with option to buy, depending on certain set conditions.
They add Marseille and the defender’s agent are ‘finalising the last details’ of the contract, in case the buying option is exercised. If all goes well, Bailly will start training with his new team from next week.
