Although Real Madrid are currently being pointed out as the most likely club to land José Mourinho following his departure from Manchester United, it seems there’s one more of his former employers who want him back.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã brings two pages on the manager’s sacking today, and has a big story claiming that Benfica are ‘dreaming’ of taking him to the club.

Club president Luis Filipe Vieira is said to be a big fan of the manager, and now with his departure from Manchester United, there’s a little bit of hope that Mourinho could take charge until the end of the season.

Correio da Manhã writes that the manager’s family is tired of living in England, and wish to return to Portugal. Mourinho himself never really adapted to Manchester, as he’s spent all this time living in a hotel.

It’s written that Jorge Mendes would be a key figure in the negotiations, as the agent isn’t only seen as a businessman, but also as a ‘partner’ at Benfica.

The Lisbon giants were the first club managed by Mourinho in his career.
