KVC Westerlo are dreaming of a potential deal with Tottenham for Lucas Bergvall after signing an official cooperation with Spurs in the summer.
Voetbal Nieuws explain that fans of the Belgian club ‘can suddenly dream’ of a very nice transfer and there is a ‘good chance’ that Bergvall could make the move.
Westerlo already have Luka Vuskovic on loan from Tottenham this season, with the Croatian defender doing well at his temporary club and ‘clearly making progress’.
He’s set to return to Tottenham in the summer transfer window but the fact that Spurs were willing to send him to Belgium could open the door for Bergvall.
It showed that they see the Jupiler Pro League as a ‘very good immediate step’ towards the Premier League, with the division just below the top competitions but still one in which the physical parameters are very strong.
It’s that which makes Westerlo an attractive partner for Tottenham and thus they could hope that Bergvall, who is not getting minutes at the moment, would be sent there for experience like Vuskovic has been.
Ange Postecoglou has publically stated the 18-year-old needs to take steps to get up to pace and a spell at Westerlo could help with that. They would be a ‘perfect immediate step’ for him, offering a better competition than the Swedish one he came from.
It’s more hope than anything for Westerlo than anything else right now, but that relationship with Tottenham and Bergvall’s situation is certainly opening the door.
