Newcastle United’s desire to sign Sven Botman has stopped AC Milan from securing the Lille player’s services so far.
The defender is keen to make a switch to the San Siro and has agreed a five-year deal with them.
Milan have not been able to convince Lille, because the Magpies are offering them more money. The French club are insisting the 22-year-old join the Tyneside club over the Rossoneri.
The centre-back has set his sights on joining the Serie A winners despite the interest from Eddie Howe’s side. This is further backed up Calciomercato.it, who explain the Dutchman is waiting for the Italian champions to make a new offer.
Over at But! Football Club, they state the operation involving Botman is complicated. That is due to his agreement with Stefano Pioli’s side, which is holding back the deal.
Last week, Milan sent a €30m proposal to the Ligue 1 side, which is €10m short of the offer made by Newcastle.
Due to the emergence of Pierre Kalulu alongside Fikayo Tomori last season, Milan ‘do not rule out reviewing their plans’ with Botman, even though he wants a move. This suggests Pioli’s side could walk away from the Lille man and if that were to happen, it will be a massive boost for Newcastle.
If Milan’s negotiations for Botman don’t progress as per their plans, then But! Football Club explain they could look at other options, such as Torino’s Gleison Bremer.
