Let’s start this story from the beginning.

Last week, Sporting’s interest in Pedro De La Vega was first reported. Newspaper O Jogo said the Lions may not be able to afford his transfer, and could use their partnership with Manchester City to succeed in negotiations.

Then on Tuesday, it was time for A Bola to talk about it. They actually said that Pep Guardiola’s side were interested in signing the player directly, meaning some competition, instead of a partnership, for Sporting.

Now we’re back at stage one, because Record has a story about the situation today, and claim that in fact, Manchester City could indeed be the Lions’ partners for this signing.

It’s said Sporting were the first to make contact with Lanus, but with the Argentine side demanding €10m, the transfer seems impossible for the Lisbon club, unless they make a big sale soon.

That’s why they’re asking for City’s help.

Record had it confirmed with Lanús’ directors that the Premier League side have been in negotiations for the 18-year-old. Now there’s a chance that De La Vega could be joining Sporting in the January transfer window, in case the clubs get to an agreement quickly.
