The Brazilian media continues to react to the stories from England which said Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the signing of Corinthians youngster Rodrigo Varanda.
Back on Monday, we saw most reports from South America showing the player’s entourage confirmed the approach from Spurs, while his club denied any contacts for the transfer.
Now it’s time for journalist Jorge Nicola to join the party, and after discussing things with Corinthians officials, he’s another one who learned that the interest doesn’t really exist.
The reporter spoke to the club’s football director Roberto de Andrade, who responded: “There’s nothing. Small talk”.
Rodrigo Varanda’s contract with Corinthians expires at the end of the year, so he’s soon allowed to sign a pre-contract with any other club.
He’s currently in a process to renew his deal, as the club consider him to be a ‘jewel’, even though he hasn’t been able to show his full potential yet.
We all know why this type of rumours show up when players are on the verge of getting new contracts, and it would be no surprise to see him signing a new deal with the Brazilian side soon, especially with the stories in England said Spurs would pay €8.5m for the move.
