Having lost Tammy Abraham for the first half of next season due to a cruciate ligament injury, AS Roma have turned their attention to West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca.
Right now, they aren’t interested in a full transfer, mostly because he would cost too much, but both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport report a meeting is going to take place soon.
That’s because Tiago Pinto, the Italian side’s technical director, is in London to meet clubs, with a priority to make some money for the club.
However, amid all these talks, Gazzetta explain he will ‘try to understand the room for manoeuvre’ when it comes to the West Ham striker.
Corriere dello Sport go into a bit more detail, stating the director is ‘having contacts’ with the Hammers, where he will have to explore their ‘willingness to sell the 24-year-old on loan to buy under certain conditions’.
There’s a lot of work to be done here, but after Scamacca’s first season at West Ham being something of a dud, perhaps a year long loan in Italy is just what he needs to get going again.
He could then return to London refreshed and ready to take the Premier League by storm.
