Manchester City have been linked with a move for Real Sociedad’s Iñigo Martinez. In recent years the defender has been the subject of several transfer rumours, but has remained with the Basque club.
In their Saturday edition Marca have reported Martinez could finally leave Real Sociedad this summer, with claims a number of top European clubs are ‘determined’ to pay his buyout clause fee of €30m.
Manchester City are thrown into the mix as a club linked, along with Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Martinez is an excellent central defender and Pep Guardiola interest would be no surprise. Recently turning 26 years of age it may have been expected for Martinez to get his big transfer before now, and that he’s under 6ft could have put some clubs, especially from the Premier League, off making a move.
Manchester City haven’t been strongly linked with signing a central defender in the current window, with Guardiola having other priorities.
